Greeting from owner, clean room, good friendly advice and good breakfast

Price was high for 1 night

A great place to stay for a racing enthusiast. You will meet racing folk in the bar in the evenings (food is excellent) and you can visit a racing stables and watch the horses on the gallops. A friendly family inn.

  • Older travelers

Really friendly staff willing to go the extra mile to help you

    The beer was good

Badily laid out rooms. Poor on suite. Out of date facilities. No parking. Suggest the 3 star aa rating needs reviewing.

  • Single

The staff were very friendly and extremely helpful. The food was good. Room comfortable

Noisy but it is a pub. Hostess trays in bedroom not good and cups should have been changed

  • Single

Frendly staff and a good menu good beer also.

  • Older travelers

Not a lot, although the owner was very friendly, the towels were thick and fluffy and breakfast was freshly cooked and good.

Had to use an untidy back alley to reach the room's entrance. Room was very basic and not what was expected from a B&B at the price.

  • Group of friends

Friendly staff, excellent full English breakfast. Clean & cosy room, nicely decorated with a view over the garden. Great electric shower - instant hot water.

Access to rooms could be improved (round the back of the pub). Small tv.

  • Older travelers

the food was very good and the staff were very friendly and were made to feel welcome.

there was alot of noise from the bar but you have to expect that from staying in a lively pub and the room was quite small

  • Older travelers

When we tried to phone the wheatsheaf to get directions from newmarket on the no. On the booking form we where told that this number was no longer making connections ,we told the landlady and the no. Was correct so must be problem with network. A land line no would have been usfull.

  • Older travelers

The landlord was so helpful and friendly, nothing was too much trouble.

  • Older travelers

They have quite a good restaurant. They were good about us taking our dog with us and didn't even charge us.

Our room was right over the pub with a loud speaker on the ceiling directly under our floor which meant that we could hear the bass even over the television. We were tired after a long journey and it would have been nice to have a quiet relax and an early night. The music did not finish until midnight and then there was noise and doors banging as people left. It was a very cold night and we had no heating on in the room in the morning so it was too cold to have a shower. Finally the door to the kitchen of the restaurant was left open allowing all the acrid cooking smells to drift upstairs and into all the rooms.

Lovely area and quiet surroundings. Not on busy road. Great value for money and near major towns for touring. Had lovely twin room with single occupancy.

Can't think of anything to dislike about it.

  • Single

Too expensive for a horrible room! The room's wall is very thin, and every sound in the next room could be heard. If someone in the other rooms opened their rooms' doors, my room's door also made noises as if it had been knocked. So, I woke up many times in the night. The room was very noisy with the bar's music until midnight. The breakfast was not good. However, the stuff was friendly. Any way, it was like a nightmare.
